The aim of this workshop is to take forward the activities of WP4 and WP5 of the IAREG Project.
The work package 4 is finalized to better understand the role of knowledge flows on firms and regional growth. WP4 will analyse four specific issues:
- How knowledge diffuses over space, with special emphasis on border effects.
- The role played by various types of IA in this diffusion.
- The impact of this knowledge diffusion on firm performances.
- The impact of this knowledge diffusion on regional growth.
The objective of work package 5 is to estimate the role of the different types of IA in determining local economic performances in Europe, focusing on the impact they have on the localization choice of firms. In particular, the specific objective of WP5 are:
-To create a functional Information System on Intangible Assets at micro and macro level.
-To examine how various types of intangible assets affects the localization choice of the firms.
-To estimate the role of externalities related to IA in determining local economic performances
-To develop a Knowledge Production and Spatial Computable General Equilibrium model for simulation analysis
Several policy suggestions and contents will be provided, both for public and private institutions at the regional and national levels with respect to the impact of knowledge diffusion and to the relation between IA and regional growth.
